JAPAN DISASTER: Teijin restarts PET films plant in Ibaraki

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Teijin on Friday restarted its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films plant in Ibaraki prefecture Japan after suspending its operations following the devastating earthquake on 11 March, a company official told ICIS.

“The damage was very minor and the factory is operating at full capacity as of now,” the official said.

The official declined to reveal the nameplate capacity of the Ibaraki unit, citing company policy.

The exact impact of the 11 March natural disasters on Teijin’s group-wide financial results is not clear at this stage, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Teijin’s PET films plant in Ibaraki is operated under a joint venture with US-based DuPont.
