Sinopec’s Gaoqiao to restart 80,000 tonne/year MTBE plant in April

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Sinopec’s subsidiary, Gaoqiao Petrochemical, is expected to resume operations at its 80,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant in Shanghai on 2 April, market sources said on Friday.

The plant was taken off line in January for extended maintenance, they added.

“Supply of MTBE is very tight in eastern China,” said one source.

Gaoqiao is seeking MTBE from Yangzi Petrochemical because of the turnaround, sources said.
