Iran’s Mehr Petrochemical stops HDPE film production

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Iran’s Mehr Petrochemical stopped its high density polyethylene (HDPE) film production since early March because of technical issues, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The 300,000 tonne/year HDPE plant at Assaluyeh produces film, blow moulding and injection grades.

“Only the film grade is affected. There is still regular output for the other HDPE grades,” the source said.

“No March and April shipments for HDPE film are offered and the next shipment would be in May,” the source added.

The Mehr HDPE plant is a joint venture between Thailand’s PTT Chemical and Siam Cement, Iran's National Petrochemical Co (NPC) and Japan’s Itochu.
