SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Aromatics Malaysia Sdn Berhad (AMSB) will shut its 550,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) unit in Kertih, Terengganu, on 8 April for maintenance and safety inspections by the local authorities, a company source said on Thursday.
“The plant should be restarted in mid-May or so,” the source said.
Contracted volumes are not expected to be affected as a result of the about 40-day shutdown, the source told ICIS.
Any short-falls in obligations have already been covered through the spot market in early-March, the source added.
Other PX makers in southeast Asia include PTT Aromatics and Refinery, Thai Oil and Pertamina.
