LONDON (ICIS)--Qatar Fertilizer Co’s (QAFCO) No 2 urea plant has restarted on schedule after maintenance work, but the associated ammonia plant has yet to resume production, a company source said on Thursday.
The Mesaieed ammonia/urea plant shutdown started on 5 March and the units were due to restart by 27 March. The source said the urea plant restarted as planned, but the ammonia unit had experienced some issues during start-up.
The ammonia unit is expected to restart in the next day or so.
QAFCO’s No 2 plant has a nameplate capacity of 900 tonnes/day of ammonia and 1,000 tonnes/day of urea.
