SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Numerous petrochemical plants and facilities in Japan are either shut or running at low rates following the deadly earthquake and devastating tsunami of 11 March.

Here is the latest status of some of the crackers and petrochemical plants as of Friday, 1 April.

JAPAN DISASTER: JX Energy restarts Kawasaki IPA unit
JX Nippon Oil & Energy restarted its 85,000 tonne/year isopropanol (IPA) plant in Kawasaki on Thursday, a company source said on Friday.

JAPAN DISASTER: AGC Chiba caustic soda still not running at full rate
Japan’s Asahi Glass Co (AGC) has been unable to achieve full operating rates at its 200,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt) caustic soda plant at Chiba since it restarted last week, due to the unstable supply of electricity in the area, a company source said on Thursday.
