HOUSTON (ICIS)--Chevron Phillips Chemical has begun maintenance at its Sweeny 24 cracker in Texas, market sources said on Friday.
The 676,000 tonne/year unit will be off line until the end of April, sources said.
Chevron Phillips does not comment on its operations, according to a spokesperson.
The US has at least one more cracker with scheduled maintenance in April.
LyondellBasell is expected to take its Channelview OP-2 plant in Texas down for a turnaround by the end of the month.
The unit has 873,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
LyondellBasell has another cracker in Channelview, OP-1, with the same capacity.
