Iran’s Arya Sasol to run PE units despite cracker turnaround

DUBAI (ICIS)--Iran’s Arya Sasol Petrochemical Co will continue to operate its polyethylene units (PE) normally, although the upstream cracker will be taken off line for a two week-long maintenance from 6 May, a company source said on Monday.

The 1m tonne/year cracker, 300,000 tonne/year high density PE (HDPE) plant and 300,000 tonne/year low density PE (LDPE) facility, are located in Assaluyeh.

“Ethylene availability will be reduced but PE production is unaffected as we have sourced the supply [of ethylene] from another supplier," the source said.

The LDPE unit is running at full tilt while the HDPE plant is operating at a reduced rate of 80-90%.
