SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Tongsuh Petrochemical has postponed the shutdown of its 300,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant in Ulsan, South Korea, to mid-May due to strong demand, a company source said on Thursday.

“As inventories are high and demand is strong, we have decided to postpone the turnaround by about one week,” the source added.

The plant, originally scheduled to shut in early May, will be taken off line from 15 May to 6 June, the company source said.

Tongsuh Petrochemical is a fully-owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei, a major Japanese ACN producer.
