SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Sinopec Group has appointed as its chairman Fu Chengyu, president of China’s largest offshore oil producer China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) and chairman of listed CNOOC Ltd, the group said on Monday.
Sinopec Group, which is Asia’s largest refiner, has set up a board of directors with separate posts for chairman and president, according to a statement on the company’s website.
Fu is serving as chairman of the group after its former president, Su Shulin, took up a government post in Fujian province on 2 April, Sinopec Group said.
Fu has over 30 years of experience in the petroleum sector. He joined CNOOC in 1982. Fu was appointed as president of CNOOC and CEO and chairman of its listed arm CNOOC Ltd in 2003.
Last September, Fu stepped down as CEO of CNOOC Ltd, but remained its chairman, according to an earlier report.
On 8 April, Wang Tianpu, president of Sinopec Group’s listed company Sinopec, was promoted to be the president of Sinopec Group, various media reports said.
Meanwhile, Wang Yilin, vice president of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), took over Fu’s position at CNOOC on 8 April, reports said.
