HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dutch producer DSM is creating a business unit that will develop composites and ultraviolet-curable materials, the company said on Monday.
The new unit, called DSM Functional Materials, will include the company's current DSM Desotech unit, it said.
The products included in Functional Materials include DeSolite optical fibre coatings and Cablelite inks used in the telecommunications industry, DSM said.
Functional Materials will continue developing ultraviolet (UV) curable materials, it said.
In addition, the unit will develop coatings and materials for the solar industry; wood coatings; and composite materials, DSM said.
The new unit will also pursue partnerships and ventures, said Henk-Jan Koenen, director of the new unit.
He was previously the director of DSM Desotech.
