US sorbitol exports drop 12% in February

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of sorbitol in February decreased 12% from January, according to data released on Tuesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Exports of sorbitol totalled 2,385 tonnes in February, a 12% decrease from the 2,699 tonnes exported in January, and a decrease of 31% from the 3,441 tonnes exported in February 2010, the ITC said.

Canada, at 1,273 tonnes, was the major destination for sorbiotl. Other destinations included Mexico, Argentina, Vietnam, Colombia, Brazil and Australia.

US exporters of sorbitol include Corn Products International and Archer Daniels Midland.
