SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Asahi Kasei said on Thursday it has resumed partial production at its phenolic foam insulation panels plant in Ibaraki prefecture on 11 April following the devastating earthquake that struck Japan’s northeast a month earlier.

The capacity of the plant is not immediately available, but production is expected to return to normal in late April. However, operations may possibly be affected by aftershocks and the instability of raw materials supply, Asahi Kasei said in a statement.

The impact of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami on the company’s 2010 business results is under investigation, the statement added.
