SHANGHAI (ICIS)--CNOOC-Kingboard Chemical has achieved on-spec production of benzene at its 350,000 tonne/year unit in Huizhou after restarting the facility on 17-18 April, a company source said on Tuesday.
“We are expecting on-spec production of paraxylene (PX) soon,” the company source added.
CNOOC-Kingboard Chemical can produce up to 900,000 tonnes of PX and 80,000 tonnes of orthoxylene (OX) at its Huizhou site.
Meanwhile, trade remained mostly quiet in the Asian PX market as traders struggled to find outlets for May delivery.
Most end-users said that contracted volumes will be sufficient to meet requirements for both the May and June delivery periods.
Spot PX prices were hovering at around $1,580-1,590/tonne (€1,106-1,113/tonne) CFR (cost & freight) ?xml:namespace>
($1 = €0.70)
