TORONTO (ICIS)--Huntsman and Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Group plan to build a plant to produce morpholine and diglycolamine agent (DGA) at Al-Jubail in Saudi Arabia, a US petrochemicals engineering contractor said on Tuesday.

Jacobs, which received a contract for the project’s front end engineering and design (FEED) services, said the plant is expected to start up in 2014.

The plant would make Huntsman the world’s largest supplier of morpholine and diglycolamine agent, Jacobs said without disclosing capacity or financial details.

Morpholine is an intermediate used in the manufacture of a wide variety of products including rubber vulcanisation accelerators, optical brighteners, coatings, pharmaceuticals, dyes and textiles, and photographic chemicals, according to information on Huntsman’s website.

Diglycolamine agent can be reacted with fatty acids to form amides and amine salts for foam-boosting surfactants, stabilisers, detergents, and in other applications.
