Koksan to build 216,000 tonne/yr PET plant in Turkey – contractor

TORONTO (ICIS)--Turkey’s Koksan PET Packaging Industry plans to build a 216,000 tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin plan in Gaziantep, Turkey, a German chemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer, which won a contract for the project, said the plant would use its patented melt-to-resin (MTR) technology.

Uhde's contract includes the technology licence, basic and detailed engineering, the supply of major plant equipment, and the supervision of the plant’s construction and start-up, it said.

Uhde added that Koksan expects to soon finalise plans for a second identical PET project.

Financial and construction start-up details were not disclosed.
