Russia's Sibur increases environmental protection spending by 97%

MOSCOW (ICIS)--Sibur increased spending on its environmental protection programmes by 97% in 2010 compared with the previous year, the Russian petrochemical company said on Thursday.

The company spent rouble (Rb) 2.6bn (€63.7m) in 2010, Sibur said.

As a result, emissions into the atmosphere by Sibur's petrochemical production facilities were 11% down last year, the company added.

In 2011, Sibur aims to further improve its environmental protection measures and increase the efficiency of its corporate system of environmental management, the company said.
