LONDON (ICIS)--Indian fertilizer manufacturer Fertilizer and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) has issued a new ammonia purchase tender just two weeks after scrapping one because it deemed prices too high, trader sources said on Thursday.
FACT issued a tender for 7,500 tonnes of ammonia for delivery to Cochin during 15-20 May. The tender will close on 26 April.
In late March, FACT issued a tender for 7,500 tonnes of ammonia for mid-April delivery, its first tender since October 2010.
The lowest offer was submitted by Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Co (PIC) at $538/tonne (€371/tonne) CFR (cost and freight).
Qatar Fertilizer Co (QAFCO) submitted an offer at $547/tonne CFR and Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) at $548/tonne CFR.
However, FACT subsequently scrapped the tender as the offer prices were deemed too high.
The latest contract business in India has been agreed in the range of $495-510/tonne CFR.
