LONDON (ICIS)--BioAmber and Mitsubishi Chemical have formed a partnership that makes BioAmber and its Asian distribution partner, Mitsui & Co, the exclusive suppliers of bio-based succinic acid to Mitsubishi Chemical, the companies said on Tuesday.
“The goal is to produce low-cost succinic acid that will drive down the manufacturing cost of Mitsubishi Chemical's patent protected polybutylene succinate,” which is a a renewable, biodegradable polymer, BioAmber said.
In addition, the companies said they are conducting a feasibility study to build a succinic acid production facility next to Mitsubishi Chemical's planned polybutylene succinate plant in ?xml:namespace>
