Ashland CEO O’Brien returning to duties after colon surgery

TORONTO (ICIS)--Ashland CEO James O’Brien will be resuming his duties in the coming weeks following successful colon surgery, he said on Tuesday.

“Since you are hearing my voice, you can safely assume that my surgery went well,” O’Brien told analysts during Ashland’s fiscal 2011 second-quarter results conference call.

“Each week, I am able to spend more time on Ashland matters, and I am looking forward to returning fully over the next several weeks,” he said.

The US specialty chemicals producer said last month O’Brien would undergo surgery to repair a perforated colon resulting from diverticulitis.
