Russia's Sibur starts exchange-based MTBE trading

MOSCOW (ICIS)--Russia's petrochemical company Sibur has started exchange-based methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) trading, it said on Wednesday.

Sibur concluded a first contract to sell 720 tonnes of exchange-traded MTBE at the Russian Interregional Oil and Gas Exchange, the company said in a statement.

Exchange-based MTBE trading would make the domestic market more transparent and create new ways to sell the product, Sibur said.

In May 2010, Sibur started exchange-based liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) trading.
