SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical shut down its No 1 acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) line on 19 April for 45-60 days of maintenance because of poor sales, a company source said on Thursday.
The producer’s two other ABS lines are operating at full rates, the source said.
The three lines, located at Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Caojing, have a total capacity of about 200,000 tonnes/year, the source added.
Gaoqiao Petrochemical plans to take the plant off line in the middle of August for 35 days of maintenance because it expects a shortage of the feedstock styrene monomer (SM) during that time, the source said.
Gaoqiao Petrochemical’s feedstock supplier, Shanghai Secco Petrochemical, is expected to conduct a turnaround at its SM plant, but Shanghai Secco could not be contacted.
