LONDON (ICIS)--The construction of BorsodChem’s toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) plant at ?xml:namespace>
Commissioning is expected to start in early June 2011 and the plant should be operational by early Q3 2011, with an initial nameplate capacity of 160,000 tonnes/year, BorsodChem said.
The TDI unit has been designed for up to 200,000 tonnes/year capacity, a company source added, but they did not expect the full amount to be utilised initially.
In addition, BorsodChem may also consider temporarily idling its 90,000 tonne/year TDI unit at the same Hungarian site because of unfavourable raw material costs during recent months, which has substantially depressed TDI margins and is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
