HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell has shut down its Channelview OP-2 cracker in Texas for planned maintenance, market sources said on Thursday.

The 873,000 tonne/year unit was shut down on Wednesday and will be off line until 18 June, according to information in the market.

A LyondellBasell spokesperson declined to comment, citing policy.

The US has at least one more cracker with planned maintenance in the coming weeks.

Westlake Chemical is scheduled to take its Calvert City cracker in Kentucky down for a turnaround in May, market sources said.

The 195,000 tonne/year unit will be off line for about three weeks.

Meanwhile, Chevron Phillips Chemical is expected to restart its Sweeny 24 cracker in Texas by the end of the week, following planned maintenance that began at the end of March.

The cracker has 676,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.

Chevron Phillips has two other crackers in Sweeny with combined ethylene capacity of 1.2m tonnes/year.
