SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Germany’s Linde Group is planning to build a large hydrogen and synthesis gas plant in Chongqing, southwest China, the industrial gases and engineering firm said in a statement on Tuesday.
Around €200m ($298.5m) will be invested in the plant, which is expected to come on stream in the third quarter of 2014, the statement said. The plant will be a joint venture (JV) between The Linde Group and China’s Chongqing Chemical & Pharmaceutical, in which Linde will hold a 60% share, according to the statement. The carbon monoxide, hydrogen and synthesis gas output from the new plant will be supplied to BASF and Chongqing Chemical’s production facilities in Chongqing, it added. However, Linde did not disclose the capacity of the plant or when construction will commence. Chongqing Chemical officials were not immediately available for comment. ($1 = €0.67)
