HOUSTON (ICIS)--Indorama has declared force majeure (FM) on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) production at its plant in Decatur, Alabama, a company source said on Wednesday.
The main power supply to the plant was cut off on 28 April following major storms in the region, but no damage to the PET facility itself was reported.
Customers served by the Decatur plant are currently on 35% product allocation, although the source did not provide details regarding how long stocks will last.
The company had initially been told that power would be restored this week, but the latest indications are that power may not be restored until 6-9 May, the source said.
The Decatur plant has a PET capacity of 432,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
Other PET producers in the US include DAK Americas, Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G) and NanYa.
