SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PTT Asahi Chemical has begun commissioning its 70,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, and expects to start commercial operations in July, a company source from Asahi Kasei said on Friday.

The plant was originally scheduled to start up in the second quarter of 2011, the source said.

Thai oil and gas major PTT and Japan’s Asahi Kasei Chemicals each own a 48.5% share in the plant, while Japanese trading house Marubeni owns the remaining 3%.
