LONDON (ICIS)--Dow Epoxy, a business unit of Dow Chemical, will expand its liquid epoxy resin (LER) capacity by 30,000 tonnes/year at its plant in ?xml:namespace>
The expansion, which is expected to be completed by 2012, will increase the company’s global LER capacity by 10% and will provide additional capacity as early as fourth quarter next year, Dow added.
“An expanded LER capacity in Stade will allow us to increase our contribution to key technology developments,” said Ralf Brinkmann, president of Dow
“The company’s back integration into key epoxy components and raw materials will help ensure reliable supply of the LER for specialty growth applications such as wind energy, composites, electronic materials and coatings," the company added.
Other components produced at the Stade site are bisphenol A (BPA) and epichorohydrine, which is used to manufacture liquid epoxy resin.
