SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Daqing Petrochemical has reduced the operating rate of its 65,000 tonne/year acrylic fibre (AF) plant to 80% in early May, a source close to the company said on Monday.

“We planned to cut AF production because the domestic AF market is currently soft. We can supply our acrylonitrile (ACN) product to feed the other downstream acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) production,” the source said.

Daqing Petrochemical’s 94,000 tonne/year ACN plant supplies its output to the company’s downstream 100,000 tonne/year ABS plant as well as the AF plant, the source added.

The company’s plants and headquarters are based at the same site at Daqing city in Heilongjiang province, northeast China.
