US ammonia imports up 39% in March from February - ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US imports of ammonia in March increased 39% from February, according to data released on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Imports of ammonia totalled 683,610 tonnes in March, up from the 493,090 tonnes imported in February, and an increase of 16% from the 589,131 tonnes imported in March 2010, the ITC said.

Trinidad & Tobago, at 358,438 tonnes, was the major source of ammonia. Other suppliers of imports included Ukraine at 107,072 tonnes, Canada at 104,570 tonnes and Russia at 96,129 tonnes.

Other sources of ammonia included Indonesia, Venezuela, Korea and Taiwan.

US importers of ammonia include PotashCorp, Mosaic, CF Industries, Yara, Agrium and Koch.
