HOUSTON (ICIS)--US imports of urea in March increased by 40% from February, according to data released Tuesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Urea imports totalled 628,026 tonnes in March, an increase from the 447,971 tonnes imported in February, but a decrease of 19% from the 770,603 tonnes imported in March 2010, the ITC said.
Canada, at 143,292 tonnes, was the major source for urea. Other suppliers of imports included Saudi Arabia at 104,500 tonnes, Kuwait at 84,536 tonnes, Qatar at 49,425 tonnes, Oman at 45,130 tonnes, Bahrain at 44,000 tonnes, China at 42,454 tonnes and Trinidad at 38,330 tonnes.
Additional sources of urea were Malaysia and Venezuela.
US importers of urea include PotashCorp, Mosaic, Koch and CF Industries.
