Chemtura to boost calcium sulphonate grease capacity at Toronto plant

TORONTO (ICIS)--Chemtura will increase production capacity for calcium sulphonate grease at its West Hill plant in the Toronto area by 40% to meet growing demand, the US-based specialty chemicals firm said on Wednesday.

Chemtura expects the expansion to come on stream by the end of the year, it said, without disclosing financial or capacity details.

Calcium sulphonate grease is part of Chemtura’s petroleum additives business. It is used in high-load, high-temperature applications in the marine, steel, paper and food industries.

In 2008, Chemtura announced a 60% capacity expansion at the plant.
