SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation (MCHC) plans to shut down its 32,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant located at Mizushima in Okayama prefecture in early June, a company source said on Friday. The plant will be shut down for two months for maintenance.

Mitsubishi Chemical will resume operations at the plant at the end of July.

“This time, we are taking a longer [period] for the maintenance shutdown in [tandem] with the shutdown schedules of the other derivative plants,” the source said.

Other MA producers in the region include Taiwan’s UPC Technology, Japan’s Nippon Shokubai, South Korea’s Yongsan Chemicals and Indonesia’s Justus Sakti Raya.
