SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Sinopec, Asia’s largest refiner, announced on Monday the appointment of Fu Chengyu as its new chairman and non-executive director effective 13 May.

Fu will take the place of Su Shulin, who resigned in mid-April to take a government post, according to Sinopec's disclosure to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Fu formerly held the position of president at China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) and chairman of listed CNOOC Ltd. He has over 30 years of experience in the petroleum sector, Sinopec said.

He will concurrently be the chairman of Sinopec's parent, China Petrochemical Corporation.
