HOUSTON (ICIS)--An equipment failure at US-based TPC Group's Harris County facility in Texas resulted in 15lb (6.8kg) of butadiene (BD) being emitted into the atmosphere on 14 May, a report by the US National Response Center said late on Monday.
The release, which resulted from a gasket failure, lasted 17 minutes, the report said. The valves were subsequently blocked in and the leak was secured.
It is not known whether the leak affected plant operations. The company could not be immediately reached for comment.
