LONDON (ICIS)--Norway’s Yara International has set new-season prices for ammonium nitrate (AN) and calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) in western Europe, a company source said on Tuesday.

In France, Yara has set a new-season price of €315/tonne ($450/tonne) delivered for June deliveries of AN and €254/tonne delivered for CAN 27.

Yara has set a CAN 27 price of €247/tonne CIF (cost, insurance and freight) for the Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg (Benelux) region and northern Germany, and €251/tonne CIF for southern Germany.

In 2010, Yara’s new-season AN price in France was €210/tonne delivered, while in Germany its CAN 27 price was €170–172/tonne CIF inland.

Market sources attribute this year's increased nitrates costs to firmer ammonia and urea prices and vastly higher crop prices.
