The unit, which can produce up to 650,000 tonnes/year of PX, will be shut for 45 days.
Sinopec will shut Jinling Petrochemical’s 600,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) unit in the middle of June for two weeks of maintenance, he added.
“We are experiencing a shortage in supply of PX for July and August because of the multiple shutdowns,”” the official said.

“We still need to buy additional spot cargoes for July,” the source added, but declined to mention the volume of PX that the company intends to purchase.
