Iran’s Mehr Petrochemical resumes HDPE film shipments for May

TEHRAN (ICIS)--Iran’s Mehr Petrochemical will resume high-density polyethylene (HDPE) film shipments for the second half of May after suspending production at its 300,000 tonne/year plant for around two months, a source close to the company said late on Sunday.

The producer stopped production of HDPE film at its Asaluyeh-based unit in early March because of technical issues and did not offer any shipments of the product for March and April.

The facility produces film, blow moulding and injection-grade HDPE, the source added.

“Shipments will recommence for end-May loading,” the source said at the sidelines of the Iran Petrochemical Forum (IPF).

Mehr Petrochemical’s HDPE plant is a joint venture between Thailand’s PTT Chemical and Siam Cement, Iran's National Petrochemical Co (NPC) and Japan’s Itochu.

The IPF was held in Tehran, Iran, on 21-22 May.
