PORTO ALEGRE, BRAZIL (ICIS)--Five workers were hospitalised following an accident on Monday at a Braskem chlor-alkali facility at Alagoas, Brazil, a public relations company said.
The contract workers were on a scaffolding during an inspection of a plant unit when the accident occurred, said CDN Communications on behalf of Braskem. One of the workers was since released from the hospital.
A pipe was broken at the site but there was no chlorine leak at the time of the accident, according to CDN.
The unit had been shut down at the time of the accident, CDN said.
