SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Jilin JiMont Acrylic Fiber has restarted its 100,000 tonne/year acrylic fibre (AF) plant on 24 May following a planned 12-day turnaround, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

Jilin JiMont is gradually ramping up the operating rate at the plant, which is running at 40-50% capacity, the source added.

Meanwhile, Jilin Qifeng Chemical Fiber will restart its 136,000 tonne/year AF plant on Thursday, which was shut in the middle of May for regular maintenance, the source said.

Jilin JiMont and Jilin Qifeng are subsidiaries of Jilin Chemical Fiber Group. Both companies and their AF units are located at Jilin city in northeast China.

The shutdowns at the two plants are not expected to affect the market as the demand for AF is still soft, the source said.
