Japan’s Kaneka raided on suspicion of anti-monopoly act violation

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Kaneka Corp was raided by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) on Tuesday on suspicion of violating the anti-monopoly act regarding sales of its foamed polystyrene (PS) blocks, the company said.

“Our group has always been thorough with the compliance [with the law and corporate ethics] and we are investigating the facts [regarding the case],” Kaneka said in Japanese in an official statement.

The statement did not have further details.

Kaneka is a producer of foamed PS, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin, caustic soda and synthetic fibres.
