Argentina April chemical production rises 4.3% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s April chemical production rose 4.3% year on year, industry sources said on Wednesday.

Production of basic chemical products was up by 1.0% in April year on year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was down by 1.0% year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber rose by 1.4%.

Agrochemicals production was down by 0.9%, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 11.1% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products increased in April by 2.3% year on year.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production grew by 5.5%. Rubber tyre production led the segment with an 8.7% increase. April production of plastic products grew by 5.1% year on year, INDEC said.
