KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)--The Asia Oil and Gas Conference (AOGC) will not be held next year to accommodate the 2012 World Gas Conference, a senior industry official said on Monday.

The 25th World Gas Conference will be held at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on 4-8 June 2012, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee, executive vice president of PETRONAS’s downstream business unit, told delegates at the opening ceremony of the 16th AOGC.

The 16th AOGC in Kuala Lumpur runs on 5-7 June and has attracted 1,235 delegates from 39 countries, Wan Zulkiflee added.

He did not specify when the next AOGC will be held. The event is held annually.

Malaysia's state-owned PETRONAS will be the host sponsor for the 25th World Gas Conference, according to the event's official website.

The 24th World Gas Conference was held at Buenos Aires in Argentina in 2009. The event is held once every three years.
