TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s Toyo Engineering said on Monday its Korean subsidiary will build the first butadiene (BD) plant in Indonesia for PT Petrokimia Butadiene.

Petrokimia Butadiene awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the 100,000 tonne/year BD plant in West Java, Indonesia, to Toyo Engineering Korea (Toyo-Korea), the company said in a statement.

The $110m (€75m) facility is expected to be completed in 2013, Toyo Engineering said.

The BD plant will procure ethylene feedstock from an adjacent 600,000 tonnes/year naphtha cracker owned and operated by Chandra Asri, according to Toyo Engineering.

BD is used in the manufacture of synthetic rubber.
