China’s Henan Kaixiang Chemical to start up BDO plant at Yima

GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Henan Kaixiang Chemical plans to start up its 45,000 tonne/year 1,4-butanediol (BDO) plant at Yima in Henan province by July-August, a company source said on Tuesday.

A second plant with the same capacity is being built and expected to come on stream about a year later, the source added.

The BDO output at the upcoming plants will be sold primarily in China’s domestic market, the source said.

Kaixiang Chemical mainly engages in the production and sales of methanol and dimethyl ether (DME).

BDO is used industrially as a solvent and in the manufacture of some types of plastics, elastic fibres and polyurethanes.
