SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Japan’s Nippon Steel Chemical restarted its 190,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit at Oita on 6 June, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant was shut for two months for a turnaround.

The producer plans to ramp up the plant’s operating rate to 80% in the next two days, the source said.

Nippon Steel Chemical’s 240,000 tonne/year SM plant at the same site is running “normally”, the source added.
