SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Beijing Gas Industrial is building two individual tankage facilities for storing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and propane at Qingdao in east China, a source from Beijing Gas Association said on Wednesday.

Construction of the two storage tanks began in May 2009 and Beijing Gas expects to start commercial operations at the facilities in June 2012.

The storage facility for LPG will have a capacity of 350,000cbm (cubic metres) while the other for propane will have 150,000cbm of tankage, the source said.

The LPG storage tank, which is the first state-owned underground facility of its kind in China, will supply product mainly to the Beijing area, the source added.
