S Korea’s Capro Corp to shut capro plant in October for turnaround

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Capro Corp, the country’s sole caprolactam producer, is planning to shut its 270,000 tonne/year plant at Ulsan in October, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant, which has three lines, is expected to be taken off line for two to three weeks for scheduled maintenance, the source said.

The plant has two 60,000 tonne/year lines and a 150,000 tonne/year line.

Other key producers of caprolactam in this region are Japan’s Ube Industries, Sumitomo Chemical and Taiwan’s China Petrochemical Development Corp (CPDC).
