US April TDI exports decline 40% year on year - ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-toluene di-isocyanates (TDI) in April were 10,270 tonnes, a 40% drop from 17,030 tonnes exported in April 2010 and 35% below the 15,863 tonnes sold abroad in March this year, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) reported on Thursday.

Through April this year, TDI exports dropped by 17% to 52,999 tonnes from the 63,872 tonnes exported in the first four months last year, according to the ITC.

The decline from 2010 to 2011 was attributed to smaller volumes shipped during the first four months this year to Brazil, Canada and Colombia.

Top destinations for US TDI from January to April were Belgium (16,178 tonnes), Mexico (7,259 tonnes) and Canada (4,234 tonnes).

US TDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, BASF and Dow.
