US April paraffin wax imports fell by 57% month on month

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US imports of paraffin wax (p-wax) in April decreased by 57% from March, according to data released on Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Imports of p-wax (less than 0.75% oil) totalled 16,615 tonnes in April, a decrease from the 38,864 tonnes imported in March, and down 36% from the 26,040 tonnes imported in April 2010, ITC said.

Greece, at 3,017 tonnes, was the major source for p-wax in March. Other suppliers included Egypt at 2,960 tonnes, China at 2,948 tonnes, Japan at 2,808 tonnes, Canada at 2,362 tonnes and Malaysia at 1,247 tonnes.

Other sources of p-wax included India, Taiwan, Equatorial Guinea and Germany.

US exports of p-wax totalled 4,148 tonnes in April, an increase of 60% form the 2,586 tonnes exported in March.

Major destinations for US p-wax in April included Mexico, Canada, India, China and France.
